※ John Davison Rockefeller Sr.(1839~1937, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_D._Rockefeller ) ; 19세기말 20세기초 미국의 사업가, 자선가(philanthropist), 대부호이다. 인류 역사상 세계 최고의 부자(the wealthiest American of all time)로 손꼽히는 인물로 그의 재산은 약 4090억 달러(한화 498조원 정도)이었다.

그는 스탠더드 오일(Standard Oil Company, 현재의 엑슨모빌 ExxonMobil) 회사를 설립하여 미국 최대의 정유 회사가 되었다.

그는 자신의 성공 비결을 어머니의 ‘신앙 유산’ 때문이라고 말했다.

University of Chicago를 설립했으며, 록펠러 재단(Rockefeller Foundation)을 세워 병원·의학 연구소·교회·학교 등의 문화 사업에 전념했다.

4. Ethical issues arise only when science is applied to technology-from medicine to industry.
