What did people truly want to say to the world?
I want to convey the true heart of the person published here.
With this mindset, I hope to properly express Bernice King's heart.
1. Love is not passive.
It is active, transformative, and just.
사랑은 수동적인 것이 아니다.
사랑은 능동적이고, 변화를 일으키며, 정의롭다.
2. Sometimes, the death of someone we feel like we knew, but we never actually touched, triggers pain about the deaths of people we knew well.
We are on a brief pilgrimage here, reconciling life and death.
Love well.
때로는 우리가 잘 안다고 느꼈지만 실제로는 한 번도 접촉해 본 적 없는 누군가의 죽음이, 우리가 잘 알던 사람들의 죽음에 대한 슬픔을 불러일으키기도 한다.

3. Shining a light on someone else doesn’t diminish mine.
Take time here to encourage people and lift them up.

4. Continue to speak out against all forms of injustice to yourselves and others, and you will set a mighty example for your children and for future generations.

그러면 우리는 자녀와 미래 세대를 위한 강력한 본보기를 보여주게 될 것이다.
5. Always realize that even your strongest advocate and opponent is a part of the human family; albeit they may have small shortcomings and even strength in them, they are part of that human family.

6. Nonviolence pursues heart change, cultural change, AND systemic change.
It is not a ‘Why can’t we all just get along?’ ideology.
It is a philosophy and strategy for true peace, which includes justice.

비폭력은 '왜 우리는 모두 사이좋게 지낼 수 없을까?'라는 이념이 아니다.

7. Justice and revenge are not the same thing.
Justice is a continuum that includes accountability, change toward preventing further injustice, strategic hope, etc.
As my father said, ‘Justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love’.
정의(正義)와 복수는 같은 것이 아니다.
정의는 책임, 더 이상의 불의를 막기 위한 변화, 전략적인 희망 등을 포함하는 연속체이다.
우리 아버지께서 말씀하셨듯이, '최고의 정의는 사랑에 상반(相反)되는 모든 것을 바로잡는 사랑이다'.
8. Being truthful about the state of our nation and world does not equal losing hope.
Hope sees truth and still believes in better.
That which dismisses or does not seek truth, but grins, saying "It will be okay," is naivete, not hope.
우리나라와 세계의 현 상황에 대해 솔직하게 말하는 것이 희망을 잃는 것을 의미하는 것은 아니다.
희망은 진실을 보고도 더 나은 미래를 믿는다.
진실을 외면하거나 찾으려 하지 않고, "괜찮을 거야"라고 웃어넘기는 것은 희망이 아니라 순진함이다.
9. Understanding that ThisIsAmerica shouldn’t evoke hopelessness.
Hope and truth are connected.
Hope is not naïveté.
It is bearing witness to truth, STILL believing in better and yielding the energy to contribute to better.
《ThisIsAmerica》가 절망을 불러일으켜서는 안 된다는 것을 이해해야 한다.
희망과 진실은 연결되어 있다.
희망은 순진함이 아니다.

10. Consider all of the possibilities for positive global progress if we utilized nonviolence as the central value of our culture, encompassing our law enforcement and labor practices, which currently include people in numerous nations working for inhumane wages in unhealthy conditions.
우리가 비폭력을 문화의 중심 가치로 삼고, 법 집행과 노동 관행에까지 적용한다면, 전 세계적으로 얼마나 많은 긍정적인 변화가 일어날 수 있을지 생각해 보세요.

11. I am urging Americans to be more careful about the kinds of media we support with our consumer spending.
We’ve got to invest less in the media that glorifies violence and more in entertainment that lifts up the values of love, compassion, and the best in human nature.
나는 미국인들에게 소비 지출을 통해 어떤 미디어를 지원하는지 더욱 신중하게 생각해 달라고 촉구한다.
폭력을 미화하는 미디어에는 투자를 줄이고, 사랑과 연민, 인간 본성의 가장 고귀한 가치를 드높이는 오락에 더 많은 투자를 해야 한다.
12. You will encounter misguided people from time to time.
That’s part of life.
The challenge is to educate them when you can, but always to keep your dignity and self-respect and persevere in your personal growth and development.
살다 보면 때때로 잘못된 생각을 가진 사람들을 만나기도 한다.
그러한 일도 인생의 일부이다.
중요한 것은 가능할 때 그들을 교육하는 것이지만, 항상 자신의 존엄성과 자존감을 지키고 개인적인 성장과 발전을 위해 노력하는 것이다.
13. The work is here.
The work is offline.
The work is online.
The work is internal.
The work is external.
The work is in the streets.
The work is in C-suites.
The work is in advocacy.
The work is in art.
The work is local.
The work is global.
The work is wherever we are.
우리가 해야 할 일이 여기에 있다.

There are people of good will of all races, religions, and nations who will join you in common quest for the betterment of society.
