The honorific commonly refers to him as Allamah (Persian: علامه, romanized: 'Allāma, lit. 'learned') and is widely considered one of the most important and influential Muslim thinkers and Islamic religious philosophers of the 20th century {그는 흔히 'Allamah (페르시아어: علامه, '학식이 높은 사람'라는 뜻)'라는 경칭으로 불리며, 20세기 가장 중요하고 영향력 있는 무슬림 사상가이자 이슬람 종교 철학자 중 한 명으로 널리 인정받고 있다}.
In August 1947, nine years after Iqbal's death, the partition of India gave way to the establishment of Pakistan, a newly independent nation state in which Iqbal was honoured as the national poet (1947년 8월, 그가 세상을 떠난 지 9년 후, 인도 분할을 거쳐 Pakistan이라는 새로운 독립 이슬람 국가가 수립되었으며, 이 나라에서 그는 '국민 시인'으로 추앙받고 있다).
He is also known in Pakistani society as Hakim ul-Ummat (lit. 'The Wise Man of the Ummah') and as Mufakkir-e-Pakistan (lit. 'The Thinker of Pakistan') {그는 파키스탄 사회에서 '하킴 울 움맛(Hakim ul-Ummah, 직역: Ummah의 현자)'이자 '무파키르 에 파키스탄(Mufakkir-e-Pakistan, 직역: 파키스탄의 사상가)'으로도 알려져 있다}.
The anniversary of his birth (Yaum-e Wiladat-e Muḥammad Iqbal), 9 November, is observed as a public holiday in Pakistan (그의 탄생일인 11월 9일은 파키스탄에서 공휴일로 지정되어 있다).

What did people truly want to say to the world?
I want to convey the true heart of the person published here.
With this mindset, I hope to properly express Muhammad Iqbal's heart.
1. From your past emerges the present, and from the present is born your future.
과거로부터 현재가 나타나고, 현재로부터 자신의 미래가 태어난다.
2. Be not entangled in this world of days and nights; Thou hast another time and space as well.
낮과 밤이 이어지는 이 세상에 얽매이지 마라.
우리에게는 또 다른 시간과 공간이 존재한다.
3. Life is a struggle and not a matter of privilege.
It is nothing but one's knowledge of the temporal and the spiritual world.
인생은 특권의 문제가 아니라 노력의 문제이다.
인생은 단지 세속 세계와 영적 세계에 대한 인간의 인식 그 이상도 이하도 아니다.

5. Be aware of your own worth, use all of your power to achieve it.
Create an ocean from a dewdrop.
Do not beg for light from the moon, obtain it from the spark within you.
자신의 가치를 자각하고, 그것을 실현하기 위해 가진 모든 힘을 쏟아라.
이슬방울 하나에서 바다를 만들어내라.
달에게 빛을 구걸하지 말고, 자기 내면의 불꽃에서 빛을 얻어라.
6. The possibility of a scientific treatment of history means a wider experience, a greater maturity of practical reason, and finally a fuller realization of certain basic ideas regarding the nature of life and time.
역사를 과학적으로 다룰 수 있다는 것은, 더 폭넓은 경험과 실천적 이성의 더 큰 성숙, 궁극적으로는 인생과 시간의 본질에 관한 근본적인 생각들을 더욱 온전히 깨닫게 됨을 의미한다.
7. People who have no hold over their process of thinking are likely to be ruined by liberty of thought.
If thought is immature, liberty of thought becomes a method of converting men into animals.
생각하는 과정을 제대로 통제하지 못하는 사람들은 사상의 자유로 인해 망하기 쉽다.
생각이 미숙하다면, 사상의 자유는 사람을 짐승으로 바꾸는 수단이 된다.
8. It is the lot of man to share in the deeper aspirations of the universe around him and to share his own destiny as well as that of the universe, now by adjusting himself to its forces, now by putting the whole of his energy to his own ends and purposes.
인간에게는 자신을 둘러싼 우주의 더 깊은 열망을 공유하고, 우주의 운명과 자신의 운명을 함께 나누어야 할 숙명이 있다.
인간은 때로는 우주의 힘에 스스로를 적응시키기도 하고, 때로는 자신의 모든 에너지를 투입하여 스스로 설정한 목적과 목표를 추구하기도 한다.
9. Look at the evils of the world around you and protect yourself from them.
Our teachers give all the wrong messages to our youth, since they take away the natural flare from the soul.
Take it from me that all knowledge is useless until it is connected with your life, because the purpose of knowledge is nothing but to show you the splendors of yourself!
우리가 살아가는 세상의 악을 직시하고, 그로부터 스스로를 보호하라.
오늘날의 교육자들은 젊은이들에게 잘못된 메시지만 전달하는데, 그 이유는 영혼의 자연스러운 빛을 빼앗기 때문이다.
분명히 말하건대, 지식이란 생활과 연결되지 않는 한 아무런 쓸모가 없다.
지식의 목적은 오직 자기 내면의 찬란함을 일깨워 보여주는 것뿐이기 때문이다!
10. Let this be our beautiful departure from stagnation; let our minds come alive; enter another dimension; go beyond the stars eagerly struggling to find that... which our naked eyes did not know existed; rise like a falcon born to soar and not be alone but be present amongst others.
정체 상태에서 벗어나기 위해 아름다운 출발을 시작하자.
정신을 차리고, 또 다른 차원으로 나아가자.
눈으로는 그 존재조차 알지 못했던 무언가를 찾기 위해, 열망을 품고 별 너머로 향하자.
높이 날아오르도록 태어난 매처럼 비상(飛上)하라.
홀로 고립되는 것이 아니라, 남들과 함께 어우러져 존재하라.
