The audience has to work hard to see what is going on.

I love what is not on display.

It’s part of how the characters operate and how they deal with disaster because they’re worldly enough to have a bit of irony and wryness about their own circumstances.

So, I think the humour comes out of that.

내 생각엔 단순히 웃음을 유발하려는 의도가 아니라, 유머가 작품 속에 자연스럽게 녹아들어 있는 것 같다.

등장인물들이 세상을 살아가는 방식, 재난에 대처하는 방식에서 유머가 드러나는 것이다.

그들은 세상 물정에 밝아서 자신의 상황에 대해 약간의 아이러니와 냉소를 지니고 있다.

그래서 거기서 유머가 나오는 거라고 생각된다.

10. When I’m really into a novel, I’m seeing the world differently during that time – not just for the hour or so in the day when I get to read.

I’m actually walking around in a haze, spellbound by the book and looking at everything through a different prism.

소설에 푹 빠져 있을 때는, 그 시간 동안 세상을 다르게 보게 된다.
