What did people truly want to say to the world?
I want to convey the true heart of the person published here.
With this mindset, I hope to properly express Riccardo Tisci's heart.
1. Seduction is about intelligence and wit.
Someone who makes me laugh has every chance to seduce me.
유혹은 지성과 재치에 관한 것이다.
나를 웃게 만드는 사람이 나를 유혹할 가능성이 아주 높다.
2. Religion and love don't have a price, don't have a gender, a skin color, nothing.
We are all on the same plate.
종교와 사랑에는 가격도 없고, 성별도, 피부색도, 그 무엇도 상관없다.
우리는 모두 같은 처지에 있다.
3. Black is always elegant.
It is the most complete colour in the whole world, made of all the colours in the palette.
검은색은 항상 우아하다.
검정색은 팔레트의 모든 색으로 만들어진, 세상에서 가장 완벽한 색이다.
4. I always think about the streets because that's where I come from and that's where I'm going to die one day.
That is my life.
나는 항상 거리를 생각한다. 왜냐하면 그곳이 내가 태어난 곳이고, 언젠가 내가 죽을 곳이기 때문이다.
거리가 곧 내 인생이다.
5. My relationship with religion is very strong because it was my hope, and it gave me two things very important in my life.
It gave me the belief and it gave me a point to reach: Don't do something bad to the people next to you.
나는 종교와 매우 깊은 관계를 맺고 있다.
종교는 내게 희망이었고, 내 인생에서 아주 중요한 두 가지를 주었기 때문이다.
하나는 믿음을, 다른 하나는 나아가야 할 방향을 제시해 주었다.
바로 "내 주변 사람들에게 나쁜 짓을 하지 말라"는 것이다.

She didn't teach me about any of that.
But she did teach me how to survive and to be a good person.
And you need to be a strong woman to do that.
She's the biggest person in my life.
She's my Virgin Maria.
That's why I love religion so much.
우리 어머니는 내게 마르코 폴로나 나폴레옹에 대해 가르쳐주시지 않았다.
그런 건 전혀 가르쳐주시지 않았다.
하지만 엄마는 내게 살아남는 법과 좋은 사람이 되는 법을 가르쳐주셨다.
그러기 위해서는 강인한 사람이 되어야 한다.
어머니는 내 인생에서 가장 큰 존재이다.
어머니는 내게 성모 마리아 같은 분이시다.
그래서 내가 종교를 그토록 사랑하는 것 같다.
7. In the beginning, I was very punk.
I was very revolutionary.
When they asked me to do Givenchy, I didn't want to do it.
My friends pushed me.
But the situation with my family was so bad financially.
I really did it because, when they told me how much they would pay me, I saw that my sisters and my mom could have a better life.
나는 처음에는 굉장히 펑크족이었다.
정말로 나는 혁명적이었다.
지방시에서 내게 모델 제의를 했을 때, 나는 하고 싶지 않았다.
친구들이 나를 설득했다.
하지만 우리 집 형편이 너무 어려웠다.
결국 내가 모델 제의를 수락한 이유는, 그들이 내게 제시한 금액을 듣고 나서, 우리 누나들과 어머니가 더 나은 생활을 할 수 있을 거라고 생각했기 때문이다.
8. We didn't have a television, so we sat around the table, and me and my sisters and my mom would do these jobs, like, a penny for a piece, you know, these paper jobs.
You know, what really saved me as a human today is my sisters and my mom.
우리 집에는 텔레비전이 없었다. 그래서 나랑 8명의 누나들, 엄마가 함께 식탁에 둘러앉아서 종이접기 같은 걸 했다. 한 장에 1페니씩 받고 말이다.
사실, 내가 지금처럼 살아갈 수 있게 된 건 우리 누나들과 엄마 덕분이다.
9. I suffered a lot when there was, like, a birthday party and I was not invited.
Not because I was ugly or stupid; I was not invited because the parents would say to the kids, "Don't invite him, because he's poor and he comes from the south of Italy, and he can't give you nothing.“
나는 어릴 적에 생일 파티에 초대받지 못했을 때는 정말 많이 힘들었다.
못생겼거나 멍청해서가 아니라, 친구 부모님들이 자기 자녀들에게 "쟤는 가난하고 이탈리아 남부 출신이라 너희에게 아무런 도움이 안 되니 초대하지 마라"라고 말했기 때문이다.
10. My mom always said to us, "You cannot judge anybody because of the color of skin."
There were a lot of African immigrants in Italy at the time, and people would not even say hi in the street.
And my mom, she would invite these people to the house.
This is what I got from my mom: to not judge people because of their sexuality, their skin color, their religion, nothing.
우리 어머니는 늘 "피부색으로 사람을 판단해서는 안 된다"고 말씀하셨다.
당시 이탈리아에는 아프리카 이민자들이 많았는데, 사람들은 길거리에서 인사조차 하지 않았다.
그런데 우리 엄마는 그런 사람들을 집으로 초대하셨다.
내가 어머니에게서 배운 것이 바로 이것이다.
섹슈얼리티, 피부색, 종교 등 그 어떤 것으로도 사람을 판단해서는 안 된다는 것이다.
11. When I arrived here at Givenchy, there was a lot of confusion.
Before me, there had been some great geniuses - John Galliano( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Galliano ) and Alexander McQueen( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_McQueen ) are great masters.
They marked history.
But when I came in after Julien Macdonald( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julien_Macdonald ), it was also a bit of a mess, because not even I could understand what the true identity of Givenchy was.
Everyone thinks that it's only Audrey Hepburn( https://cw2588.blogspot.com/2022/11/audrey-hepburn-sayings-quotes-wikipedia.html ), but there is a whole other world behind it.
내가 지방시에 처음 왔을 때, 많이 혼란스러웠다.
나보다 앞서 존 갈리아노와 알렉산더 맥퀸 같은 위대한 천재들이 있었다.
그들은 훌륭한 거장들이다.
그들은 역사에 한 획을 그었다.
하지만 줄리앙 맥도날드 후에 내가 왔을 때는, 나조차도 지방시의 진정한 정체성이 무엇인지 이해할 수 없었기 때문에, 좀 혼란스러웠다.
사람들은 지방시 하면 오드리 헵번만 떠올리지만, 그 이면에는 완전히 다른 세계가 있다.
