1. We need to be the authors of our own life.
우리는 자기 인생의 작가가 되어야 한다.
2. Don't push growth; remove the factors limiting growth.
성장을 강요하지 마라.

4. The most effective people are those who can "hold" their vision while remaining committed to seeing current reality clearly.
가장 유능한 사람들은 자신의 비전을 "유지"하면서도 현재의 현실을 명확하게 파악하는 데 전념할 수 있는 사람이다.
5. The key to success isn't just thinking about what we are doing but doing something about what we are thinking.

6. Systems thinking is a discipline for seeing wholes.
It is a framework for seeing interrelationships rather than things, for seeing ‘patterns of change’ rather than static ‘snapshots.’

시스템 사상은 정적인 '스냅샷'이 아닌 '변화의 패턴'을 보기 위한, 사물이 아닌 상호관계를 보기 위한 골격(骨格)이다.
7. The organizations that will truly excel in the future will be the organizations that discover how to tap people's commitment and capacity to learn at all levels in an organization.
미래에 진정으로 뛰어난 조직은, 조직의 모든 수준에서 사람들의 헌신과 학습 능력을 활용하는 방법을 발견하는 조직이 될 것이다.
8. In great teams, conflict becomes productive.
The free flow of conflicting ideas is critical for creative thinking, for discovering new solutions no one individual would have come to on his own.
훌륭한 팀에서는 갈등도 생산적인 에너지로 승화된다.
상충되는 아이디어의 자유로운 교류로 인한 창의적인 사고력은 그 누구도 스스로 찾아내지 못한 새로운 솔루션을 발견하는 데 아주 중요하다.
9. The gap between vision and current reality is also a source of energy.
If there were no gap, there would be no need for any action to move towards the vision.
We call this gap creative tension.
비전과 현재 현실의 간극도 에너지원이다.
틈이 없다면 비전을 향해 나아가기 위해 어떤 행동도 필요하지 않을 것이다.
우리는 이 간극(間隙)을 창의적 긴장이라고 부른다.
10. Leadership is about creating a domain in which human beings continually deepen their understanding of reality and become more capable of participating in the unfolding of the world.
Ultimately, leadership is about creating new realities.
리더십은 인간이 지속적으로 현실에 대한 이해를 심화(深化)하고, 세계의 전개에 더 많이 참여할 수 있는 영역을 만드는 것이다.
궁극적으로 리더십은 새로운 현실을 창조하는 것이다.
11. Through learning we re-create ourselves.
Through learning we become able to do something we never were able to do.
Through learning we reperceive the world and our relationship to it.
Through learning we extend our capacity to create, to be part of the generative process of life.
학습을 통해 우리는 자신을 재창조한다.
학습을 통해 우리는 결코 할 수 없었던 일을 할 수 있게 된다.
학습을 통해 우리는 세상 및 세상과의 우리의 관계를 재인식한다.
학습을 통해 우리는 창의적으로 살아갈 수 있는 능력을 확장한다.
12. Sharing knowledge is not about giving people something, or getting something from them.
That is only valid for information sharing.
Sharing knowledge occurs when people are genuinely interested in helping one another develop new capacities for action; it is about creating learning processes.
지식을 공유하는 것은 사람들에게 무언가를 주거나 그들로부터 무언가를 얻는 것이 아니다.
지식 공유는 정보 공유에만 유효하다.
지식 공유는 사람들이 서로가 새로운 행동 능력을 개발하도록 돕는 데 진정으로 관심이 있을 때 발생한다.
지식 공유는 학습 과정을 만드는 것이다.
