※ Hannah Arendt (Johanna Arendt, 1906~1975, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hannah_Arendt ) ; a German and American historian and philosopher.

Her works cover a broad range of topics, but she is best known for those dealing with the nature of wealthpowerfame, and evil, as well as politics, direct democracyauthoritytradition, and totalitarianism

Her name appears in the names of journals, schoolsscholarly prizeshumanitarian prizes, think-tanks, and streets; appears on stamps and monuments; and is attached to other cultural and institutional markers that commemorate her thought.

After completing secondary education in Berlin, Arendt studied at the University of Marburg under Martin Heideggerhttps://cw2588.blogspot.com/2024/01/martin-heidegger-sayings-quotes.html ), with whom she engaged in a romantic affair that began while she was his student.

She obtained her doctorate in philosophy at the University of Heidelberg in 1929. Her dissertation was entitled Love and Saint Augustine, and her supervisor was the existentialist philosopher Karl Jaspers( https://cw2588.blogspot.com/2023/12/karl-jaspers-sayings-quotes-meaning-of.html ).

With the publication of The Origins of Totalitarianism in 1951, her reputation as a thinker and writer was established, and a series of works followed.

What did people truly want to say to the world?

I want to convey the true heart of the person published here.

With this mindset, I hope to properly express Hannah Arendt's heart.

1. Solitude is the human condition in which I keep myself company.

2. Violence can destroy power ; it is utterly incapable of creating it.

3. Equality... is the result of human organization.
We are not born equal.

4. The greatest enemy of authority, is contempt, and the surest way to undermine it is laughter.

5. It is better to suffer wrong than to do wrong, because you can remain the friend of the sufferer.

6. The aim of totalitarian education has never been to instill convictions but to destroy the capacity to form any.

7. This is the precept by which I have lived : Prepare for the worst ; expect the best; and take what comes.

8. Forgiveness is the key to action and freedom.
We are free to change the world and start something new in it.
Forgiveness is the only way to reverse the irreversible flow of history.

9. The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists.

10. The totalitarian attempt at global conquest and total domination has been the destructive way out of all impasses.
Its victory may coincide with the destruction of humanity ; wherever it has ruled, it has begun to destroy the essence of man.
