※ William Penn (1644~1718, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Penn ) ; an English writer, theologian, religious thinker, and influential Quaker who founded the Province of Pennsylvania.

An advocate of democracy and religious freedom, Penn was known for his amicable relations and successful treaties with the Lenape native peoples who had resided in present-day Pennsylvania prior to European colonisation there.

A man of deep religious conviction, Penn authored numerous works, exhorting believers to adhere to the spirit of Primitive Christianity.

I want to convey the true heart of the person published here.

With this mindset, I hope to properly express William Penn's heart.

1. Time is what we want most, but what we use worst.

시간이라는 것은 우리가 가장 원하는 것이지만, 가장 어리석게 사용하고 있는 것이다.

2. Avoid popularity it has many snares and no real benefit.

인기있는 곳을 피하라. 그 곳은 올가미가 많고 실질적인 이득은 별로 없다.

3. Death is no more than turning us over from time to eternity.

죽음은 우리가 유한(有限)한 세계에서 영원한 세계로 넘어가는 것에 지나지 않는다.

4. In all debates, let truth be thy aim, not victory, or an unjust interest.

진실은 승리나 부당한 이해관계(利害關係)를 위해서가 아니라, 진실 자체가 당신의 목표가 되도록 모든 토론에 임하라.

5. Right is right, even if everyone is against it, and wrong is wrong, even if everyone is for it.

모두가 반대하더라도 옳은 것은 옳고, 모두가 찬성하더라도 잘못된 것은 잘못된 것이다.

6. Justice is the insurance which we have on our lives and property.

Obedience is the premium which we pay for it.

인생은 단 한 번 뿐이다.
