그는 그리스-페르시아 전쟁에 대한 자세한 설명인 [Histories 역사]를 쓴 것으로 유명하다( He is known for having written the Histories – a detailed account of the Greco-Persian Wars ).

그는 고대 로마의 웅변가 키케로(Cicero, https://cw2588.blogspot.com/2022/11/marcus-tullius-cicero-sayings-quotes.html )가 그에게 부여한 칭호인 "역사의 아버지"로 묘사된다{ He has been described as "The Father of History", a title conferred on him by the ancient Roman orator Cicero }.
