※ Twyla Tharp (born 1941, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twyla_Tharp , https://www.twylatharp.org , https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0857087 , https://www.instagram.com/twylatharp_ ) ; an American dancer, choreographer, and author who lives and works in New York City (미국의 댄서, 안무가, 작가이고 뉴욕에 거주하며 활동하고 있다).

Her work often uses classical, jazz, and contemporary pop music (그녀의 작품은 종종 클래식, 재즈, 현대 팝 음악을 활용한다).

From 1971 to 1988, Twyla Tharp Dance toured extensively around the world, performing original works.

In 1973 Tharp choreographed Deuce Coupe to the music of The Beach Boys for the Joffrey Ballet.

Deuce Coupe is considered the first "crossover ballet", a mix of ballet and modern dance.

Later she choreographed Push Comes to Shove (1976), which featured Mikhail Baryshnikov( https://cw2588.blogspot.com/2026/05/white-nights-mikhail-baryshnikov.html ) and is now thought to be the best example of crossover ballet.

3. Creativity is a habit, and the best creativity is a result of good work habits.

12. Dance is simply the refinement of human movement - walking, running, and jumping.

We are all experts.

There should be no art form more accessible than dance, yet no art is more mystifying in the public imagination.

13. Every work of art needs a spine – an underlying theme, a motive for coming into existence.

It doesn't have to be apparent to the audience.

But you need it at the start of the creative process to guide you and keep you going.

15. Creativity is more about taking the facts, fictions, and feelings we store away and finding new ways to connect them.

What we're talking about here is metaphor.

Metaphor is the lifeblood of all art, if it is not art itself.

Metaphor is our vocabulary for connecting what we are experiencing now with what we have experienced before.

It's not only how we express what we remember , it's how we interpret it - for ourselves and others.
