1. The way you present your work has a lot to do with how people receive and regard it.

But when you get right down to it, it's a bit of an elitist world.

I like to show great artists of our time, but I also like dealing.

It's something you kind of create value for in a way that you don't with a company.
It's an act of collective faith what an object is worth.
Maintaining that value system is part of what a dealer does, not just making a transaction but making sure that important art feels important.

회사와는 달리 그림은 가치를 창출하는 것이다.
그림은 작품의 가치에 대한 집단적 믿음의 행위이다.
그 가치 체계를 유지하는 것은 딜러가 하는 일의 일부이다.
딜러는 단순히 거래를 하는 것이 아니라, 중요한 예술 작품이 중요하게 느껴지도록 하는 것이다.
10. I've had people say to me, "Well, how do I start collecting artworks?"
Well, you start by buying.
Buy what you like, buy what you can afford - and I'm not just saying that because I'm a dealer.
You can't be so paralyzed to where you keep saying, "I've got to learn more."
The best way to learn is to go home and actually put something on the wall.
Then you've got an investment. Then you're living with it. Then you're in the game.
사람들이 내게 "예술 작품 수집은 어떻게 시작해야 하나요?" 라고 물어본 적이 있다.
글쎄~, 구매부터 시작해야 한다.
좋아하는 것, 감당할 수 있는 것을 구입하시라. 내가 딜러라서 하는 말이 아니다.
"더 배워야 겠다" 라고 계속 말만 하며 꼼짝하지 않고 있으면 안 된다.
배우는 가장 좋은 방법은 집에 가서 실제로 벽에 걸어보는 것이다.
그러면 투자를 한 셈이다. 그 투자와 함께 살아가게 되고, 결국 게임에 참여하는 것이다.
