가벼운 슬픔은 말로 표현할 수 있지만, 깊은 슬픔은 사람의 말문을 막아버린다.

무지(無知)는 사람이 머리를 쉴 수 있는 가장 부드러운 베개이다(알면 병, 모르면 약!).

용기는 다리와 팔이 아니라 마음과 영혼의 힘이다.
용기는 우리가 부리는 말(馬)이나 무기의 가치에 있는 것이 아니라 우리 자신의 가치로 구성된다.
10. When I am attacked by gloomy thoughts, nothing helps me so much as running to my books.
They quickly absorb me and banish the clouds from my mind.
우울한 생각이 밀려올 때, 독서에 빠지는 것만큼 도움이 되는 것은 없다.
