one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery within the domain of physiology or medicine ;

one part to the person who shall have produced in the field of literature the most outstanding work of an idealistic tendency ;

and one part to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity among nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.

첫째, 물리학 분야에서 가장 중요한 발견이나 발명을 한 사람,

둘째 화학 분야에서 가장 중요한 발견이나 발명을 한 사람,

셋째 생리학이나 의학 분야에서 가장 중요한 발견이나 발명을 한 사람,

넷째 문학 분야에서 가장 탁월한 이상주의적인 경향의 작품을 쓴 사람,

다섯째 국가간 우애를 돈독히 하거나 군대를 폐지 또는 축소시키거나 평화회담을 주창하고 개최하는 데 가장 큰 공을 세운 사람이다.

7. The prizes for physics and chemistry shall be awarded by the Swedish Academy of Sciences ;

that for physiological or medical works by the Caroline Institute in Stockholm ;

that for literature by the Academy in Stockholm ;

and that for champions of peace by a committee of five persons to be elected by the Norwegian Storting.

물리학상과 화학상은 스웨덴 왕립 과학 아카데미에서 수여하도록 한다.

생리학•의학상은 스웨덴 스톡홀름의 카롤린스카 연구소에서 수여하도록 한다.

문학상은 스톡홀름 아카데미에서 수여하도록 한다.

평화상은 노르웨이 의회에서 선출된 5인 위원회에서 수여하도록 한다.

8. It is my express wish that in awarding the prizes no consideration whatever shall be given to the nationality of the candidates, so that the most worthy shall receive the prize, whether he be Scandinavian or not.

상을 수여하는 데 있어 어떠한 경우에도 후보자의 국적이 고려되어서는 안된다는 것이 나의 소망이다.

따라서 상은 스칸디나비아인이든 아니든 상관없이 수상할 가치가 있는 사람에게 수여되어야 한다.
