What did people truly want to say to the world?
I want to convey the true heart of the person published here.
With this mindset, I hope to properly express Charles de Lint's heart.
1. The best artists know what to leave out.
최고의 예술가는 무엇을 제외해야 할지 안다.
2. There's never an easy route to the things that matter.
중요한 것에 이르는 쉬운 길은 없다.
3. You've got to find yourself first.
Everything else'll follow.
먼저 자신을 찾아야 한다.
자신을 찾으면 나머지는 다 따라올 것이다.
4. I want to be magic.
I want to touch the heart of the world and make it smile.
나는 마법이 되고 싶다.
나는 세상의 마음을 만지며 웃게 만들고 싶다.
5. Remember the quiet wonders.
The world has more need of them than it has for warriors.
조용한 경이로움을 기억하라.
세상은 전사(戰士)보다 경이로움을 더 필요로 한다.
6. The few wonders of the world only exist while there are those with the sight to see them.
세상의 몇 안 되는 경이로운 것들은 그것을 볼 수 있는 시력을 가진 사람들이 있는 동안에만 존재한다.
7. Don't forget - no one else sees the world the way you do, so no one else can tell the stories that you have to tell.
잊지 마시라.

8. Without mysteries, life would be very dull indeed.
What would be left to strive for if everything were known?

9. Look inside yourself for the answers - you're the only one who knows what's best for you.
Everybody else is only guessing.

10. Every time you do a good deed you shine the light a little farther into the dark.

11. Inside us lies every possibility that is available to a sentient being.
Every darkness, every light.
It is the choices we make that decide who or what we will be.
자신 안에는 모든 어둠과 모든 빛을 포함하여 지각(知覺) 있는 존재에게 가능한 모든 가능성이 들어 있다.
자신이 누구가 될지 또는 무엇이 될지는 자신이 내리는 선택에 따라 결정된다.
12. I don't want to live in the kind of world where we don't look out for each other.
Not just the people that are close to us, but anybody who needs a helping hand.
I cant change the way anybody else thinks, or what they choose to do, but I can do my bit.
나는 우리가 서로를 돌보지 않는 세상에서 살고 싶지 않다.
자신과 가까운 사람들 뿐만 아니라 도움이 필요한 모든 사람들을 돌보기를 바란다.

13. Our lives are stories, and the stories we have to give to each other are the most important.
No one has a story too small and all are of equal stature.
We each tell them in different ways, through different mediums - and if we care about each other, we'll take the time to listen.
우리의 인생은 스토리이고, 각자가 서로에게 전해야 할 스토리가 가장 중요하다.
아무도 너무 작은 스토리를 가지고 있지 않으며, 모두 동등한 지위를 가지고 있다.

14. Beauty isn't what you see on TV or in magazine ads or even necessarily in art galleries.
It's a lot deeper and a lot simpler than that.
It's realizing the goodness of things, it's leaving the world a little better than it was before you got here.
It's appreciating the inspiration of the world around you and trying to inspire others.
아름다움은 TV나 잡지 광고, 심지어 미술관에서 보는 것과는 다르다.
그보다 훨씬 더 깊고 훨씬 더 단순하다.
아름다움은 삼라만상의 좋은 점을 깨닫는 것이고, 자신이 이 땅에 오기 전보다 세상을 조금 더 나은 곳으로 만드는 것이다.
